School Visits

June 2025

Kinderbears from Sheldon Elementary School visited the museum this week to learn about the history of our town. After stopping at the general store display to “purchase” a historic postcard, our visitors proceeded to the post office display to “mail” it, and then proceeded to our schoolroom display to learn how the town came to be called “Sheldon.” Along the way, we met long-ago visitors to Sheldon who drank spring water and stayed in big hotels, read a 1905 letter from a Sheldon student, handled iron ores used in the blast furnaces by early settlers, and asked many many questions.

June 2024

On Tuesday June 4th, your museum hosted Ms. Regan and Ms. Sarah’s Kindergarten classes from Sheldon. Matthew Stebbins presented stories from his research on “Sheldon Schools of Yesteryear” including Margaret Kimball’s written musings from her school days as a youngster. The 6 year olds listened intently and asked many questions including one asked of Matt – “How do you know so much?”.
