July 25, 2026 proved to be a highly successful day in Sheldon, VT. The Sheldon Historical Society hosted the 2026 Old Home Day parade, BBQ and event. Over 600 individuals lined the streets to watch the parade of over 50 entries including floats from local groups like the school, library, girl scouts, and historical society. Attendees were especially pleased with several of the floats designed by Sally Severy and her team. Following the parade and ceremony at the veterans memorial, the BBQ served at the Sheldon Cemetery grounds by Bob’s Meat Market, saw 400 people in line for this delicious culinary opportunity. Other events kept children happily involved while their parents listened to the tunes of
The Old Man Garage Band and The Champlain Valley Chorus.

Grand Marshall, Eleanor Dodd, has lived in Sheldon for 71 years while raising her family on their still active family Farm. Auto is a 1966 Cadillac Convertible owned by Andy Crane.

Grand Marshalls, Jim and Fern Mercure. Jim moved to Sheldon Creek with his family when he was 7 years old. They ran the store where the historical museum is today. Fern is very active in community programs and a driving force in the Sheldon Historical Society. Auto is a 1969 Pontiac Convertible owned by Terry and Joanne Magnan.

Once again your Sheldon Historical Society has proven to be a dynamic organization that unites our community while telling its stories of historical people, places and events.
