Alden Brother’s Creamery

Around 1900 creameries abounded in all parts of Sheldon owing mostly to the distances milk needed to be hauled to be processed.  The Franklin County Creamery started in Sheldon Jct. which was sold the H P Hood.  In Sheldon Creek, the Capital Creamery began operation as one of the larger creamery operations.  Alden Brothers purchased this operation during the early 1900s.

During the fire of April 4, 1932 that destroyed most of the commercial district on Bridge Street  at Sheldon Creek including the covered bridge, the creamery also burned.  Some of its remaining concrete supports continue to occupy an area to the rear of the Sheldon Historical Society Museum.
